Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Tuesday chaired the first meeting of the Special Task Force Committee constituted to resolve priority issues related to infrastructure projects of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) in Himachal Pradesh.

The meeting reviewed a wide range of key agenda items concerning the timely execution of ongoing and upcoming highway projects of national importance.

Detailed discussions were held on land acquisition, tree felling and forest clearance, environmental concerns such as dredging of the Beas River, shifting of utilities, and identification of dumping sites.

The deliberations emphasized the need for effective inter-departmental coordination to overcome these challenges in a time-bound manner.
The Minister directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination with NHAI and MoRTH authorities to ensure expeditious resolution of pending issues.

He underlined that infrastructure development, particularly roads, plays a crucial role in strengthening tourism, economy, and trade in Himachal Pradesh, and assured the full support of the state government for the timely execution of highway projects.

Appreciating the efforts of NHAI and MoRTH in constructing national highways and restoring road connectivity damaged by unprecedented rainfall during the current monsoon season, the Minister also instructed officials to take necessary measures to address the genuine grievances of local communities.
